Why We Can’t Attack Obasanjo – Presidency
One of the aides of President Muhammadu Buhari has told our correspondent that the presidency cannot attack former President Olusegun Obasanjo over the letter he wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The aide (names withheld) said that Buhari personally warned all his advisers and assistants not to respond negatively to Obasanjo’s letter.
The source said, “When the news about the letter was brought to Buhari, the president quickly warned his aides against attacking Obasanjo.”
Chief Obasanjo had asked Buhari not to contest for second term in office as he advised him to go back home and concentrate on his health.
It took about 48 hours before the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed could react to Obasanjo’s letter.
He described the former president as a patriot that could always advise any government but added that the current administration of Buhari was doing well.
Mohammed also stated that perhaps Obasanjo could not see all the works of Buhari due to his busy schedule. The minister reeled out the achievements of the Federal Government but never raised any abusive words against Obasanjo.
Recalled that Obasanjo and Buhari met in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the African Union summit where they threw banters.
