Wizkid Gets His First Grammy Nomination
Nigerian superstar singer and probably the greatest musical export at the moment, Ayo ‘Wizkid’ Balogun has taken his art to another level as he has just been nominated for a Grammy Award, the most revered awards in the music industry.
His nomination came via his contributor on ‘Views’, which is an album by Drake Aubrey Graham, and it was nominated in the album of the year category, as the nominations for the 2017 Grammys were released yesterday.
He is officially in the mix to be awarded as this category, the Grammy Award for album of the year is traditionally presented to the main artist, the featured artist(s), the producer, the engineer and/or mixer and the mastering engineer which is all those involved in the making of the song.
But even as this is good news for the Wizkid, a number of music lovers were left disappointed after the shocking omission of One Dance, a song by Drake featuring Wizkid and British singer, Kyla which topped charts and broke download records.
One Dance was the number one song on the Billboard charts for up to ten weeks as music lovers revelled in its tune and predicted an award for the hit song.
This is a very big year in the life of Wizkid as he has won awards such as the Teen Choice Award for Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Song for the same song one dance amongst a host of others.
