World Cup: Croatia Match Is Crucial, Adepoju Tells Eagles
Former Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju has said that the Super Eagles must beat Croatia, their first opponent in the coming World Cup to progress in the tournament.
Mutiu said this at a chat with journalists in Lagos on Thursday, adding that Croatia is a tough side, which Nigeria must force to bite the dust in their opening match.
He noted that Croatia had gotten quality players that were above average with one of the best midfield but the Nigerians resilience could subdue the European team.
He explained that for Super Eagles to do well at the tournament, the players must be fit and able to raise their games against Croatia.
“They must ensure that Croatia is defeated without which they would be walking a tightrope against Iceland and Argentina,” Adepoju said.
He mentioned Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi and Odion Ighalo as Super Eagles that could make a difference as he urged the coaching crew to monitor all other players, going to the tournament for fitness.
The world cup is hosted by Russia and it begins in June.
