World Cup: Eagles Will Do Well – Pinnick
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick has said that the Super Eagles of Nigeria will do well at the forthcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia this year.
He said this in an exclusive interview with our correspondent, adding that the team would qualify from the seemingly difficult group that has Argentina, Croatia and Iceland to the knock out stages.
According to him, the team has quality players and team spirit that can do the job and advance Nigeria beyond group stages of the competition.
Pinnick could not mention if the team had the quality to be in the quarterfinals but was of the strong opinion that Nigeria would do well in the tournament.
“I keep saying to my executive committee members that we are a team that is better prepared for the next World Cup, even this World Cup. “We are the youngest team statistically going to this World Cup and this team is very strong, united, coordinated with one goal-success.
He explained that NFF had intervened on behalf of the players with their clubs to use them regularly but not just as benchwarmers so that they would be fit for the world cup.
“Some of our interventions we did not let the players know and it is working for them and the team. We have the crops of players that will mature over the years to conquer the world,” Pinnick said.
